The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Saturday notified that K Rajaraman the Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications will be the next chairman of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA).
Rajaraman will succeed Injeti Srinivas the first chairman of the IFSC who successfully completed his three-year tenure in July.
Srinivas was appointed in July 2020.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Department of Economic Affairs for K Rajaraman as the IFSCA Chairman.
The new Chairman is expected to join Gandhinagar-based statutory authority in August, as per the report.
Rajaraman was serving as the Telecom Secretary since October 2021 and is known to take several initiatives to enhance the growing digital economy and attract foreign direct investments (FDI). He even supervised the first-ever 5G auction in the country that benefitted the Centre with more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore collection.
