IFSC and all the climbing world is mourning the death of Antonio Marcos Silvestre (ESP), who passed away Wednesday, 9 August 2023, after a long illness.
Antonio was one of the first national judges in Spain: he did the national judges course during a national cup organised in Leyva, Murcia, in 1989. Ten years later, he participated in the international judges course in Torino, Italy, coached by IFSC President Marco Scolaris. He was an active judge and jury president along the national climbing competitions calendar. He was appointed as ICCC and IFSC judge from 1999, and acted as judge during the IFSC Climbing World Championships in Avilés and Gijón. He was a boulder specialist: not only he organised regional boulder competitions, but also opened new boulders in Spain.
