The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) Asian Championships Seoul 2022 awarded the first two titles to Narasaki Tomoa and Ito Futaba, both representing Japan.
Narasaki placed first in a men’s Lead final dominated by Team Japan, with Ogata Yoshiyuki and Fujii Kokoro completing the podium in second and third place, respectively. Following his top in the semi-final round, Narasaki finished with 39+ to claim the first continental title of his stellar career.
Ogata – winner of the men’s Boulder World Cup 2022 title – won silver with 36+, while Fujii took bronze with 36.
Two more Japanese climbers – Homma Taisei and Yoshida Satone – placed just outside the podium. Chon Jongwon of South Korea finished in sixth position, and Chen Yongchen of China placed seventh. Chan Cheung-chi Shoji of Hong Kong, China concluded in eighth position.

The second gold of the day was won by Ito Futaba of Japan, who dominated the women’s Boulder event, finished with four tops and four zones, and finally climbed atop the podium. It is the second Asian title of her career after the one she claimed in Kurayoshi, Japan in 2018.
For Ito, who placed fourth in the women’s Boulder event at this year’s World Cups in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, and Innsbruck, Austria, it is also the first medal of the 2022 season.
Luo Zhilu of China – bronze medallist at the IFSC World Cup Brixen 2022 – placed second with three tops and four zones; Seo Chaehyun of South Korea won bronze with three tops and three zones.
Tanii Natsuki of Japan also finished with three and three, but a higher number of attempts made her finish in fourth position. Kura Nanako of Japan took fifth place, and Sa Sol of South Korea concluded in sixth.

The IFSC Asian Championships Seoul 2022 will continue tomorrow with the men’s Boulder semi-final and final, and the women’s Lead semi-final and final. Both finals will be streamed live on the YouTube channel of the Korea Alpine Federation.
