BARCLAYS BANK is a global British universal bank based in London, England. Barclays is separated into two divisions: Barclays UK and Barclays International, with a service firm called Barclays Execution Services. 
Barclays UK includes the British retail banking operations, consumer credit card business, wealth management business, and corporate banking for small, medium, and large firms in the United Kingdom. Barclays International comprises two divisions: Barclays Corporate and Investment Bank (previously known as Barclays Capital) and Consumer, Cards & Payments. The investment banking industry serves large corporations, organizations, and governments with consulting, funding, and risk management services. It is a principal dealer in Gilts, US Treasury securities, and various European Government bonds.
In 1736, James Barclay joined the company as a partner. In 1896, many banks in London and the English provinces, including Goslings Bank, Backhouse’s Bank, and Gurney’s Bank, merged to form Barclays and Co., a joint-stock bank. Over the next few decades, Barclays grew to become a national bank. Barclays installed the world’s first cash dispenser in 1967.
