WHAT THEY SAID:
Riccardo Vicentini (ITA) – men’s Under 18
“It was really hard. I really didn’t expect such a hard route like this. I’m so happy to make it into the final. Of course now I want to make podium. I’m in the finals so why not try for this. I’m motivated now as it’s already a good result to make it to the final, and now there is one more step to go.”
Sarina Ghaffari (IRI) – women’s Under 18
“The semi-final was really stressful for me because it’s my first, well actually my second as the first was the World Championships in Switzerland. The route was really good. I didn’t do my best. I’m pretty excited for finals now and I can’t wait to climb. I’m really happy to be in the final and winning a medal for sure is a goal.”
Yannick Nagel (GER) – men’s Under 20
“It was tough. Super hard form the start today. Already the press on the first clip, and then it just gets harder and harder. The holds are super sweaty and it’s one tough move after another, but super fun. Now that I’m in finals I can just enjoy it and see what happens.”
Norah Chi (USA) – women’s Under 20
“It was definitely scary going into the semi-finals considering the start was really sketchy and the climb itself looked really hard. When I was previewing, I didn’t really have time to read any of the clips or anything. It was definitely nerve-wracking. The climb itself went better than I expected considering the difficulty. I’m going into the final with no expectations. I feel the pressure is off now and I’m just going to have as much fun as I can.”
